Breast Augmentation + Lift
in Midvale, UT
ABOUT AUGMENTATION + LIFT
When women get older, they can lose significant volume in their breasts. Additionally, women can develop loose, excess skin on their chest as they age. Some may even experience both changes, having deflated breasts that sag. If you want to both increase the size of your breasts and remove excess skin, plastic surgeon Dr. Kirk Moore often suggests undergoing a breast augmentation performed with a lift (mastopexy). This combination of breast surgeries at Plastic Surgery Institute of Utah in Midvale, UT begins with removing excess skin from the chest and then adding an implant to reach your desired breast size. A breast augmentation with a lift can improve several issues, including position, size, and shape to give you more youthful, less saggy breasts. Schedule a consultation with Dr. Moore to discuss your specific concerns and goals. From there, he can help you determine if a combination breast surgery with both augmentation and a lift is ideal for you and your aims.
IDEAL CANDIDATES
There are many factors that may have you considering breast augmentation combined with a lift. This dual procedure is a great option if you desire to fully transform your breasts while trying to compensate for the loss of elasticity of your skin. You may be experiencing sagging of the breasts due to pregnancy, aging, or significant weight loss. As a result, you may wish to increase breast fullness. All of the aforementioned concerns can be addressed with a combination breast surgery. Dr. Moore will utilize his years of advanced surgical experience to assess whether a breast lift by itself can achieve your best results or if both procedures are needed to reach your overall desired look.
SURGICAL TECHNIQUE
Breast augmentation with a lift is performed in our Midvale, UT facility’s operating room where you will be placed under general anesthesia. For this procedure, the breast lift can usually be performed without or without the implants. A combined approach or staged approach will be discussed in detail at the time of your consultation to determine which is the best course of action for your articular concerns, anatomical shape and desired results. Any loose skin is removed and the tissue beneath is tightened. Dr. Moore will go over breast implant options with you before the surgery so the selected implant can be easily placed. In some instances, the nipple and/or areola will need to be repositioned to fit your new breast size and shape.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Recovery time for this particular procedure will vary from patient to patient, but you should be able to return to your normal activities within about a week. Due to the invasiveness of the procedure, you will need to abstain from any exercise or strenuous activity for 2 – 6 weeks. There may also be some swelling following the procedure that can last for a few weeks. Breasts will begin to settle into their new transformed position in about 3 – 6 months. By this time, you will be able to enjoy your new beautiful silhouette.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
How much does breast augmentation with a lift cost?
The cost of a breast augmentation with a lift will be determined by many factors, particularly whether your augmentation is performed with implants (silicone or saline). In addition, some lift procedures have more complexity, depending on the surgical case. During a thorough consultation, Dr. Moore will create a unique treatment plan with cost estimates. Plastic Surgery Institute of Utah accepts a number of payments, including low-interest medical financing.
Will a breast augmentation with a lift correct sagging?
The benefit of having a breast augmentation with a lift is that it improves the volume of your breasts while also reducing sag by eliminating excess skin. The lift portion of your surgery will involve raising the position of your existing breast tissue so your results are placing the nipple in a more ideal position, and minimizing the sagging breast tissue. This is important because adding volume to breasts with even moderate sagging can result in an undesired look if a lift is not performed to correct the sag. If severe sagging is present, a lift should be performed first, followed by implants. During your consultation with Dr. Moore, he will listen to your concerns and goals before performing a physical exam of your breasts. After this, he will be able to give you his recommendation about whether you should get implants, breast lift, or both.
Which incision is best for my surgery?
Breast surgery incisions have come a long way in recent years with new techniques being explored to help reduce the appearance of scarring. The actual incision type that is best for your surgery will depend on the severity of sag and the type of implants being used. In almost all scenarios, a lift/augmentation can be performed thru a vertical incision, minimizing the traverse scarring, as seen in many anchor-type incisions. When creating your treatment plan, Dr. Moore will explain the various incision patterns and select the one that is best for your needs. Regardless of the method that is used, Dr. Moore makes carefully planned incisions so your results look natural.
How long will my results last?
As long as you do not have massive weight fluctuations or become pregnant, the results of breast augmentation and lift can last a very long time. While implants today are made to last for years, they do need to be examined every few years to ensure their continued safety. During surgery, Dr. Moore places the implants using a method that protects your breasts from sagging. This helps with the long-term outcome. It is important to understand that while a breast lift with augmentation can offer a great result, natural aging will continue. Eventually, you may start to see loose skin and sagging again, which can be improved with an additional procedure.
How bad is the scarring?
Dr. Moore performs breast surgeries so that all incisions are as small and thin as possible. He does his best to place incisions where they are likely to be less visible, such as under the folds of the breast or along the border of the areola. With proper care, the scars from your breast augmentation with a lift will eventually lighten and fade to blend with your natural skin. Dr. Moore or a member of his team will discuss scar management tips you should follow after your surgery to help your incisions heal smooth and flat.
